Amendment of section 35. Amendment of section 37. Validation. 430 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS. At present, there is no provision in the Tamil Nadu Slum Areas (Improvement and Clearance) Act, 1971 (Tamil Nadu Act 11 of 1971) for appointment of the Managing Director to the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board and to act as Member of the Board. However, the Managing Director of the said Board had been acting as one of the Members of the said Board with effect from 10th March, 1997 and he has also been exercising the powers and performing the duties of Chief Executive Officer of the said Board. As the services of the Managing Director to the said Board on whole time basis are absolutely necessary, the Government have decided to include Managing Director as Member of the Board as well as Chief Executive Officer of the said Board and designate the Secretary in the Board as Secretary to the Board. Accordingly, it has been decided to amend the said Tamil Nadu Act 11 of 1971 for the above said purpose and also to validate the participation of the Managing Director in the meeting of the Board and action taken by him.
