Penalty for furnishing false return or information.- If the trustee of any public trust or any cultivating tenant under any public trust, who is under an obligation to furnish any return or information under this Act, furnishes a return or information which he knows or has reason to believe to be false, such trustee or cultivating tenant shall be punishable with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees. *48. Penalty for contravention of the direction of the authorized officer.- If the trustee of any public trust contravenes any direction of the authorized officer under clause (b) of section 12, or clause (b) of sub-section (2) of section 13 or sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) of section 14, or sub-section (1) of section 14-A, he shall be punishable with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees.
