Establishment of Private University. - (1) The Government may permit the establishment of a Private University, by any sponsoring body, by inclusion of the name of the Private University, its location and the details of the sponsoring body in the Schedule. (2) The Private University shall be a Greenfield University and shall also be a multidisciplinary University. Its location shall be within the State of Tamil Nadu. (3) The Private University shall be a body corporate, shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and shall sue and be sued by the said name. (4) The Private University shall be of the unitary type and shall not have power to affiliate or recognise any college or institution. (5) The Private University may establish constituent colleges, regional centres, additional campuses and study centres at such places in the State as it deems fit subject to the norms of UGC and other regulatory bodies.
