(1) If any person wilfully contravenes, or attempts to contravene, or knowingly abets the contravention of, any of the provisions of this Act or any rule made thereunder, he shall be punishable with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees and in the case of a continuing contraven- tion with an additional fine which may extend to one hundred rupees for every day during which such contraven- tion continues after conv~ction for the first such contra- vention.
