Subject to the pro~isions of this Act, the statutes may provide for St*- d l or ally of the f olIowing matters, namely :- (i) the holding of convocation to confer degrees; (ii) the conferment of honorary degrees and academic distinctions; (iii) the constitution, powers and functions of the authorities of the University; (IV) the manner of filling vacancies amorlg members of the authorities: IV) the allowances to be paid to the members ot the authorities and corn- mittees thereof; 060 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETrlE EXTRAORDINARY - --- - ----- - . (vi) the procedure at meetings of the authorities in~:luding the quorum for the transactions of business at such meetings ; (vii) the authentication of the orders of decisions of the authorities; (viii) the formation of departments of teaching at :he Urliversity and the University colleges ; (ix) the term of office and mtfiods of appointment and conditions of service of the ~fficers of the Unilrersity other than ll,, C:,...lc:!!or an+ th? pro.chancellor; (x) the qualifications of the teachers and other persons employed by the University : (xi) the classifica.ion, the method of appointment and determinatioli of thu terms and conditions of service of teachers and other perscns employed by the University ; (xii) the institution ot pension, gratuity, insurance or provident fund for the benefit of the officers, teachers and other persons employed by the University : (xiii) the institution of fellowships, travelling fellowships, scholarships, studentships, bursaries, exhibitions, medals and prizes and the conditions of award thereof ; (xiv) the establishment and maintenance of halls, hostels and laboratories i 1 (xv) the conditions tor residence of students of the University in the halls and hostels and the levy of fees and other charges for such residence ; (Xvi) the conditions of registration of ;graduates and the maintenance ot register thereof ; (xvii) the conditions of recognition of 'apprnved colleges and of affiliation to the University of affiliated colleges ; (xviii) the manner in whiah, and the conditions subject-to which, a college may be designated as an autonomous college or tho designation of such college may be cancelled and the matters incidental to the administration of autonomous colleges including the constitution or reconstitution, powers and duties of Standing Committee on Academic AEiirs, StafF Council, ~ o a r d s of studies and Boards of maminers ; (xix).the delegation of powers vested in the authorities or officers of the University ; and (xx) any other matter which is required to be or may be ptescribed by the statutes; m5 how ma&
