Objects of the Uizivcrsity

Objects of the Uizivcrsity.-The University sl~all have the following abjects, na~iiely :-- (1) to provide for instruction and training in sucll branches' of ;tamilig as it rnay determine in the field of medical science ; (2) to provide for research and for the advhnceo~eni and iissemi- ~atiorl of knowledge in the field of medical science ; ' ) (3) to institute degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions ; 1 (4) to institute leclurerships, readerships, prof~ssorships and other xaching posts required by the University and to appoict persons to cuch lecturerships, readerships, professorships and other teaching posts; (5) to institute and award fellowships, ~cholarsl~ips, studentships, bursaries, exhibitions, medals and prizes in acccirdance wiril the statutes; (6) to institute research posts and to appoint persons to such xsts ; (7) to organise advanced studies and research progra~nmes from dmp fn time 2 * (8) t'o organise conthuiag medical education programmes; (9) to develop research (10)Ao encourage co-operation among the colleges, Univaity laboratories, hospitals and institutions in the University area and to cb- -. ordinate with other Universities and other authorities in such manner ' aid -for such purposes as the University may determine. . 5. (14) to make grants from the funds of thi'uni~ersit~ for the tenance of National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme or othef + 31 '1 similar organisations ; and 87 Jc (1 5) generally to do all such other acts and things as may be neca.. sary or desirable to further the objects of the University.
