Ordinances. — Subject to the provisions of this Act and the statutes, the ordinances may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely:— (a) the admission of students to the University and the levy of fees in University colleges and laboratories; (b) the conditions of residence of the students of the University and the levy of fees for residence in hostels maintained by the University; (c) the conditions of recognition of hostels not maintained by the University; (d) the qualifications and emoluments of teachers of the University; (e) the fees to be charged for courses of teaching given by teachers of the University and for tutorial and supplementary instruction given by the University; (f) the conditions subject to which persons who may hereafter be permanently employed may be recognized as qualified to give instruction in affiliated and approved colleges and hostels; (g) the appointment and duties of examiners; (h) the conduct of examinations; (i) the extension of University teaching in the town limits of Madurai and elsewhere in the University area; and (j) all other matters which by this Act or by the statutes may be provided for by the ordinances.
