Power and duties of 3[the Commissioner] in respect of 4[temples and religions endowments].—Subject to the provisions of this Act, the administration of 5[all temples (including specific endowments attached thereto) and all religious endowment] shall be subject to the general superintendence and control of 3[the Commissioner] and such superintendence and control shall include the power to pass any orders which may be deemed necessary to ensure that 6[such temples and endowments] are properly administered and that their income is duly appropriated for the purposes for which they were founded or exist : 7[Provided that 3[the Commissioner] shall not pass any order prejudicial to any temple or endowment unless the trustees concerned had a reasonable opportunity of making their representations. 1[24. Power to enter religious institutions.—(1) 2[The Commissioner, or an Additional] or a Joint or a Deputy or an Assistant Commissioner or any officer authorized by the Commissioner or 3[Additional Commissioner or Joint Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner or] the Assistant Commissioner in his behalf shall have power to enter the premises of any place of worship for the purpose of exercising any power conferred or discharging any duty imposed by this Act, or the rules made thereunder.
