Any reference by whatever form or words in any law in force to any authority competent on the date immediately preceding the appointed day, to exercise any powers or discharge any functions in the City of Tiruppur shall, where a corresponding new authority has been constituted by or under the City Police Act as extended or under this Act to the said City, have effect as if it were a reference to that new authority.
