Appointment of Administrator by Government (1) Immediately after the commencement of this Act, the Government shall appoint an Administrator to exercise the powers and discharge the functions of the Vice-Chancellor under this Act till a Vice-Chancellor is appointed in accordance with the provisions of section 9: Provided that the person so appointed shall be a Professor of the University or any other University or college or an officer of the Government not below the rank of Secretary to Government. *(2) The person appointed as Administrator under sub-section (1) shall hold office for a period of one year (Amended) or till the necessity ceases, whichever is earlier.
