Constitutio~z of the Academic Council.-(1) The Academic Council shall consist of the following members, namely:- &-orno Members. (a) The Vice-Chancellor ; (b) The Deans ; (c) The Directors ; . This item was substituted for the following item by section 5 (iii) of ihe Perarignar Anna University of Technology (Second Amendment) Act, 1979 (Tamil Nadu Aot 11 of 3980) :- I (h) The Ch@hman of the Board of Swondw ~duodtion of the State :*. 1978 : T.N, Act JOJ Anna University 915 (j) Five persons from Private Industries and research organi- sations having proficiency in matters relating to industry and research, . to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendations of the Vice-Chancellor ; (k) Eiour persons from public sector industries of the Central a d State Governments, in the State having proficiency in matters relating to industry and research, to be nominated by the Chancellor on the re- commendations of the Vice-Chancellor ; ( I ) Two persons from Professional Engineering Societies or Institutions or Bodies or Assoaations to be nominated by the Chancellor, on the recommendations of the Vlce-Chancellor ; (m) TWO persons from Small Scale Industries in the Stat@, having proficiency in matters relating to setting up cf such Industries with particuliar reference to the Programme of rural development in the State to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendations of the Vice-chancellor ; (n) TWO persons from among the Office Bearers of the Alumni Associations of the College of Engineering, Guindy, Madras and the Institutions mentioned in Schedule I, to be nominated by the ChanceUor on the recommendations of the Vlce-Chancellor ; (0) One person heading any of the District Industries Centres set up by the Department of Industries and Commerce of the State, to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendations of the Vice- Chancellor ; (p) one person each from the Khadi and Village Industries Commission of the Central Government and the Tamil Nadu Khadi and Village Industries Board, to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendations of the Vice-Chancellor ; (q) One person from the Directorate oi'Medica1 Education of the State, having proficiency in matters relating to bio-medical engineering, to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendations of the Vice- Chancellor ; (r) One person from among .the teachers of each of the Insti- tution or University Departmenfs w e n below* to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recommendations of the V~ce-Chancello~ :- (i) The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore ; (ii) The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras ; 125 110-58~ I (iii) The Department of Engineering and Technology of the Annamalai University, Annamalainagar ; 9 ~ 6 Anna University (iv) The Agricultural Engineering Department of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore ; [I978 : T.N. Act 30 (v) The Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gandhigram, Madurai District, Tamil Nadu ; (vi) The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore ; (s) Two persons, one from among the teachers of all Engineering Colleges affiliated to the University of Madras and the other from among the teachers of all Engineering Colleges affiliated to the Madurai-Kamaraj University, to be nominated by the Chancellor on the recon~mendations of the Vice-Chancellor ; and ~[(ss) all Heads of Departments and Heads of Centres of the University ;] (t) Members of the Syndicate not included in any of the above 2[items (a) to (s) and item (ss) I.] (2) The Vice-Chancellor shall be the ex-oficio Chairman of, and the Registrar shall be the ex-officio Secretary to, the Academic Council. Act 301 Anna Unive~sity 917 Explanation.-For the purposes of this clause, the expression 'term* shall include the term held prior to the 21st December 1981.1 (4) The Chancellor may, after giving a reasonable opportunity of being heard, remove any member of the Academic Council other than an ex-officio member from office, if such member is, in the opinion of the Chancellor, incapable of acting as a member or has abused his position as a member, so as to render his continuance as such member detrimental to the interests of the University.
