Section 34

Requisitioning of certain substances.--

(1) The Central Government shall have the right to require any substance, which in its opinion, contains uranium, thorium, plutonium or any of their isotopes or any other source material or fissile material, to be delivered to it and the Central Government may extract from that substance the uranium, thorium, plutonium or any of their isotopes or such other source material or fissile material contained therein and return the substance to the person concerned on payment of compensation as determined in accordance with section 36. (2) Nothing in this section shall prevent the Central Government from permitting, subject to such conditions as it may deem fit to impose, the use of small quantities of natural uranium or thorium in excess of the exempt quantities notified under section 44, as may be determined by the Central Government to be necessary for the purpose of examination, test, analysis or any other non-nuclear applications.
