(1) The Board shall determine the number, nature and categories of officers and other employees as it considers necessary, for the efficient discharge of its functions and exercise of its powers under this Act and the Central Government shall provide the Board with such officers and other employees. (2) The salaries, allowances, incentives, entitlements and other conditions of service of officers and employees of the Board referred to in sub-section (1) shall be such as may be prescribed. (3) The Board may, subject to such terms and conditions as may be specified by the Central Government, appoint such number of consultants or experts, as it may consider necessary, for the efficient discharge of its functions under this Act. (4) The Chairperson shall nominate one of the officers of the Board having at least twenty years of experience in nuclear science and technology, to serve as a Secretary of the Board. (5) The Chairperson, Members, Secretary, officers and other employees of the Board shall be deemed, when acting or purporting to act in pursuance of any of the provisions of this Act, to be public servants in accordance with clause (28) of section 2 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (45 of 2023.).
