The Chief Town Planner and the Authority shall, not later than six months after the declaration of the regional planning area under section 11 and the develop- ment area under section 21 respectively or within such time as the Government may from time to time, extend, but not later than one year, prepare an Existing Land Use Map and a Land Use Register in the prescribed form indicating the present use of every piece of land in the regional planning area or the development area, as the case may be: Provided that if a local authority has been appointed as the development authority for any development area and such local authority has prepared a Map or a Register, or both, in respect of the said area before the application of this Act to that area, the Map or the Register so prepared shall be deemed to be a Map or Register under this section.
