Appointment and the powers of the Vice-Chancellor.- ∗(1) The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor upon the recommendations of a Selection Committee and after obtaining the advise of the State Government there on : Provided that the first Vice-Chancellor of the University shall be appointed by the Chancellor in consultation of the State Government, on such terms and conditions as may be specified, by order, by the Chancellor for a period not exceeding three years. (2) The Selection Committee, referred to in sub-section (1), shall consist of the following:- (i) A person nominated by the Executive Council who should not be connected with the University or any other college affiliated to the University or any institution there of; (ii) One eminent authority on law nominated by the Chancellor; (iii) One nominee of the Bar Council of India. (3) The Chancellor may appoint one of the members of the Selection Committee constituted under sub-section (2) to act as the Chairman of the Committee. (4) “The Selection Committee shall submit a panel of at least three persons for appointment to the position of Vice Chancellor for the consideration of the Chancellor.
