#The Chairperson. - (1) The *Chairperson shall be appointed by the Sponsoring Body with the consent of the State Government for a period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office. Provided that a *Chairperson shall notwithstanding the expiration of his term continue to hold office until his successor enters upon the office. (4) The*Chairperson shall, if present, preside at the meetings of the Board of Management and at the convocation of the University for Conferring Degrees, diplomas or other academic distinctions. (5) The *Chairperson shall have the following powers, namely:- (a) to call for any information or record in connection with the affairs of the University; (b) to appoint the *President; (c) to remove the *President; in accordance with the provisions of sub- section (8) of section 13; and (d) such other powers as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
