The Chairperson.- *(1) The Chairperson shall be appointed by the Sponsoring Body with the consent of the State Government for a period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office: Provided that a Chairperson shall notwithstanding the expiration of his term continue to hold office until his successor enters upon the office. (4) The Chairperson shall, if present, preside at the meetings of the Board of Management and at the convocation of the University for conferring degrees, diplomas or other academic distinctions. (5) The Chairperson shall have the following powers, namely:- (a) to call for any information or record in connection with the affairs of the University; (b) to appoint the President; (c) to remove the President in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (8) of section 13; and (d) such other powers as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
