Penalties.-(1) If any person contravenes any provision of this Act or of the rules or orders made or notifications issued thereunder, he shall on conviction be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both. (2) Whoever, having once been convicted of a fishing offence, is again convicted of the same or any other fishing offence shall for every subsequent offence be punishable on conviction with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both.
