(1) The State Government may appoint one or more than one Deputy Election Commissioners to assist the Election Commissioner in the discharge of State Government to decide disputes regarding disqualification. Appointment of Deputy Election Commissioner and Secretary to Election Commission. his duties under this Act and the rules made thereunder and may also appoint Secretary to the Election Commission. (2) The term of appointment and other conditions of service of the Deputy Election Commissioner and the Secretary to the Election Commission appointed under sub-section (1), shall be such, as may be prescribed. (3) The functions of the Election Commissioner under the Constitution and this Act and the rules made thereunder, may, subject to such general or special directions, if any, as may be given by the Election Commission in this behalf, be performed also by the Deputy Election Commissioner, or by the Secretary to the Election Commission.
