In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "College" means an institution maintained by or admitted to the privileges of the University under this Act; (b) "Principal" means the head of a College, and includes, when there is no Principal, the person for the time being duly appointed to act as Principal, Short title and commencement. Definitions. PUNJAB GOVT. GAZ.(EXTRA), APRIL 29, 2026 (VYSK 9, 1948 SAKA) 496 and, in the absence of the Principal or the acting Principal, a Vice-Principal duly appointed as such; (c) “State Government” means the Government of the State of Punjab in the Department of Higher Education; (d) "Statutes", "Ordinances" and "Regulations" means, respectively, the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University made by or under this Act; (e) "Teachers" includes Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and other persons imparting instruction in the University or in any College; and (f) "University" means Shri Guru Teg Bahadur World Class University, Punjab as incorporated under section 3 of this Act.
