Functions of Designated Planning Agencies. - (1) The Designated Planning Agencies will work under the overall directions and control of [The State Government.] (2) The Board may assign any or all of the following functions to the Designated Planning Agency, namely, - (i) to carry out survey of the regional planning area, local planning area or a site for new town, as the case may be, and, prepare reports on the surveys so carried out; [(ii) to prepare an existing land use map and such other maps, as may be necessary for the purposes of preparing regional plan, master plan, a new town development plan; (iii) to prepare a regional plan, a master plan and a new town development plan; and] (3) [In accordance with the directions of the State Government], a Designated Planning Agency shall exercise all such powers as may be necessary or expedient for the purposes of carrying out its functions under this Act and also perform any other functions which are supplemental, incidental, or consequential to any of the functions specified in sub-section (2) or as may be prescribed.
