(1) For the administration of Directorate of Prisons and Correctional Services, the Government shall appoint the Head of Prisons and Correctional Services who shall be the Head of Department. He shall exercise such administrative, financial, disciplinary powers and such other powers specifically conferred upon him by the State Government from time to time or as may be prescribed. (2) The Head of Department shall exercise the powers and perform duties under this Act and other prison officers and staff of prisons shall work under the general supervision, control and direction of the Head of Department.
