Whoever, having ceased to be a police officer, does not return forthwith his certificate of appointment, clothing accoutrement and other wherewithal supplied to him for the execution of his duty, shall on conviction by a court of law, be punished with imprisonment for a term, not exceeding six months or with fine, not exceeding rupees ten thousand or with both.
