Whoever contravenes the provisions of sections 58, 59 or 60, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term, which may extend to six months, or with fine, which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both: Provided that either before or after the institution of prosecution, these offences may be compounded before the competent authority or the court for such amount, as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf.
