(1) Whoever - (a) contravenes the provisions of Sections 3, 4 or 5 or fails to comply with any order or direction given under this Act, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term, which shall not be less than three months and which may extend to one year or with fine of not less than twenty-five thousand rupees or with both; or (b) contravenes the provisions of Sections 6 or 7 or of any rule, notification or order made, issued or given under Provision for placement of receptacles. Power of local authority for removal of garbage. Duty of owners and occupiers to collect and deposit garbage. Penalties. this Act, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term, which may extend to one month or with fine, which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both. (2) Whoever having been convicted of an offence under this Act, is again found guilty and is convicted of an offence under this Act, shall be punishable with double the penalty provided for the offence. (3) Whoever in any manner aids, abets or is accessory to the commission of an offence under this Act, shall on conviction, be punished with the same imprisonment as is specified for the commission of that offence.
