Suspension and removal of members of Panchayat Samitis.-- (1) The State Government may, during the course of an inquiry, suspend a Member of a Panchayat Samiti for any of the reasons for which he can be removed and debar him from taking part in any act or proceeding of the said body during the inquiry. (2) The State Government may by notification remove any Member who, in the opinion of the State Government, has been guilty of misconduct in the discharge of his duties: Provided that before the State Government notifies the removal of a Member, the reasons for his proposed removal shall be communicated to him, and he shall be given an opportunity of tendering an explanation in writing. (3) A person who has been removed under sub-section (2) may be disqualified for re-election for such period not exceeding five years as the State Government may fix.
