(1) Subject to other provisions of this Act, the Government may prescribe the mode of recruitment, pay scale of post, qualifications and other conditions of service of the members of the Punjab Fire and Emergency Service, as well as all matters connected therewith. (2) Save as otherwise provided by or under this Act, every person holding office in an existing Fire Brigade or Fire and Emergency Service of any local authority on the date immediately before the commencement of this Act shall continue to hold office on the same rank, and terms and conditions as were applicable to them immediately before such date.
