Statement of a single witness. - It is not illegal to convict an accused person on the statement of only one witness, provided the evidence relied upon is fee from all doubts. Rule of prudence forbids conviction being based on the testimony of a solitary eye witness, unless there are compelling reasons for the same and the evidence of the sole eye witness is completely above b0ard. Where on examining the evidence of the only eye witness it cannot be safely said that prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt, the accused is entitled to the benefit of doubt.
