(1) Every member including the Chairperson shall hold office for a period of three years. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1), a member may –– (i) by writing under his hand and addressed to the government resign his office at any time; (ii) be removed from his office in accordance with the provisions of section 11. (3) A vacancy arising by reason of resignation or removal of any member of the Commission under sub-section (2) or otherwise shall be filled up in accordance with the provisions contained in section 5: Provided that a person so appointed shall hold office for the remaining period of the term of the person in whose place such person is appointed.
