(1) The Government may, by notification, declare any area in the Union territory to be a planning area for the purpose of this Act, and on such declaration this Act shall apply to such area. (2) Every such notification shall define the limits of the area to which it relates. (3) The Government may, after consultation with the Board and the Planning Authorities concerned, amalgamate two or more planning areas into one planning area, subdivide a planning area into different planning areas and include such divided areas in any other planning area. (4) The Government may, by notification, direct that all or any of the rules, regulations, orders, directions and powers made, issued or conferred under this Act and in force in any other planning area at the time, with such exceptions and adaptations and modifications as may be considered necessary by the Government, shall apply to the area declared as, amalgamated with or included in, a planning area under this section and such rules, regulations, bye-laws, orders, directions and powers shall forthwith apply to such planning area without further publication. *[(5) The first publication of a notification as to the declaration of the planning area shall be deemed and have the same effect as the publication of a notification under sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, (Central Act 1 of 1894), except where a notification under sub-section (1) of section 4 or a declaration under section 6 of that Act has been previously made and is in force].
