(1) The Lieutenant-Governor of the Union territory of Puducherry shall be the Chancellor of the University; (2) The Chancellor shall be the Head of the University and shall, when present, preside over the Convocation of the University, for conferring Degrees; (3) No honorary degree shall be conferred by the University upon any person without the explicit approval of the Chancellor; (4) The Chancellor may, by order in writing, annul any proceedings of the University, which is not in conformity with the provisions of this Act, the Statutes, the Ordinances and the Regulations made thereunder; Provided, that before passing such an order, he/ she shall give a notice, calling upon the University to show cause, why such an order should not be made, and if, any cause is shown within the time specified therefor in the notice, shall consider the same; (5) The Chancellor shall exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred on him by this Act or the Statutes.
