The Indian Succession Act, 1925 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), shall extend to the Union territory of Puducherry, subject to the following modifications, namely:- (i) Section 1 of the said Act shall be renumbered as sub-section (1) thereof, and after sub-section (1) as so renumbered, the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:- *“(2) It shall come into force in the Union territory of Puducherry on such date as the Administrator of that Union territory may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint: Provided that different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act, and any reference in any such provision to the commencement of this Act shall be construed as a reference to the coming into force of that provision”; + This Act came into force w.e.f 1.11.1982 vide Notification published in EG pt.
