(1) The Government shall, by notification in the official gazette, establish with effect from such date as may be specified in the notification, an authority to be known as Ground Water Authority. (2) The Ground Water Authority shall consist of – (a) a Chairman to be appointed by the Government: (b) five official members of the departments of the Government dealing with survey, exploration, development, management and protection of ground water, to be appointed by the Government; and (c) three non-official members who, in the opinion of the Government, have special knowledge or practical experience in matters relating to ground water, to be appointed by the Government. (3) The term of office and the manner of filling the vacancies and other conditions of service of the Chairman and other members shall be in such manner as may be prescribed.
