In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) “Government” means the Administrator of the Union territory of Puducherry appointed under article 239 of the Constitution; (b) “Prohibition Regulation” means the Puducherry Prohibition Regulation, 1979, promulgated by the President under clause (1) of article 240 of the Constitution; and (c) “region” means any of the four regions of the Union territory of Puducherry namely, Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.
