(1) The provisions of this Act shall have effect notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any pre-existing law, custom, usage, agreement or decree or order of a Court. (2) If any provision contained in the Karaikal Pannaiyal Protection Act, 1966 is repugnant to any provision contained in this Act, the latter provision shall prevail and the former provision shall, to the extent of the repugnancy, be of no effect.
