( I ) Tl~e Vice-Cha~~ccllor shall be appointed ChancclIorh by the C hancellcr. (2) No person shall be cligible for such appoi- ntment unless he is abovc rorty years of agc. (3) The term of ofhcc of tile Vice- Cllancellor shall be three years from the date of h i s appointment: Provided that the Char~cellor may, from time lo rime, extend tbu aroresaid term of office for a total period not exceeding six months. (4) The Chancellor may at any time remove the Vice-Chancellor from ofice, if in his opinion-or on receipt of'. a resolution of the Board adopted by twothirds of ~ t s members, it appears tnat his continu- ance in ofice is detrinlental to the interests of the University: Provided that no such removal shall be made without giving the Vice-Chancellor a reasons ble opportunity of being Izeard. (5) The Vice-Chancellor may relinquish his office by su'bmit ting resignation to the Chancellor subject to the condition that he shall give no.tice of three lllonrlls of his iateiltion so to do. (6) A person holding the office of Vie-Chan- cellor shal! be eligible.for reappoirltme~zt : Provided that no person sl~ali be eligible: to hold such office for more than two terms consecut i- vely. (7)TheVice-Chancellor shall b e a whole-time salaried oficer of the Unive~,sity and his emoluments and other service conditions sha!! be such as may be prescribed and shall not during his tern1 of office be varied to his disadvantage. . (8)- Where a vacaucy occurs .or is 'likely to occulh In ,the ofice of the Vice-Chancellor for' any cause,( o [her i h ~ n the expiry of Ihc term-6f' ;office ) the Registrar shall rcport the fact forthwith:to!tbe Chancellor and such vacancy sh;l,ll be filled up in accordasice with 1 he provisiorzs of sub-section (1): (9) In case the Vice-~;hanczllar proceeds ldh leave he Cilancellor may appoint any person to act .as the'Vice-Chancellor during the period of leave.
