The State Government may, by notification or Tahsils. divide any Subdivision into as many Ta hsils, fixing the local limits of each such Tahsit as they deem fit and may in like manner alter the said limits : Provided that the State Government may declare the whole of the are2 within the Iocal limits of a Sub- division to be a!so a Tahsil ; Provided further that any area declared to be a Ta hsil for ths purposes of revenue administration prior to the date of commencement of this Act by an order notified in the Gazette and in force immediately before the said date, shall, unless the Stale Govern- ment otherwise direct, be deemed to be a Tahsil for purposes of this Act.
