Functions of Pani Panchayat :– The Pani Panchayat shall perform the following functions, namely: (a) to prepare a cropping programme suitable for the soil and agro- climatic condition with due regard to crop diversification; (b) to prepare a plan for the maintenance of irrigation system in the area of its operation at the end of crop season and carry out the maintenance works of both distributary system and minor, sub- minor and field drains in its area of operation 1[and head works of Minor irrigation Systems other than Lift Irrigation Point under the supervision ot the concerned Executive Engineers, out of the fund] of the Pani Panchayat from time to time ;
