The Odisha Gazette EXTRAORDINARY PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY Short title, extent and Commencement Definitions Cessation of Office of Chairman, Vice- Chairman and members of Panchayat Samities and filling up Vacancies Odisha Act 7 of 1960 2 (3) During the period beginning with the appointed date and until the newly elected Chairman assumes Office, the powers and functions of the Chairman shall be exercised and discharged by the Sub-divisional Officer having jurisdiction over the concerned Block. (4) The Chairman, Vice-Chairman and the members, if any, elected in pursuance of Sub-Section (2), for all purposes, be demed to have been elected under the Panchayat Samiti Act and rules made there under and shall, subject to the provisions of the Act, hold Office for three years.
