(1) The Director General of Police, the Commissioner, the Additional and penalties. Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner, the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner shall have the same powers to suspend, discipline and penalise the police officers of subordinate ranks as may have been given to them or to police officers of their equivalent ranks in the State by or under the Police Act, 1861 and while doing so they shall follow the same procedure and award the same penalties as prescribed by or under the said Act. (2) An appeal against any order of punishment passed against a police officer of subordinate rank shall lie in the same manner and be subject to same conditions and limitations as prescribed by or under the Police Act, 1861. 5 01 1861.
