(1) A Court taking cognizance of an offence punishable under Section 84, or under Section 96 may state upon the summons to be served on certain cases. the accused person that he may, bya specitied date prior to the hearing of the charge, plead guilty to the charge by registered letter and remit to the Court such sum not exceeding one thousand rupees in Ihe case of an offence punishable under Section 84 and in other cases the amount not exceeding the maximum of fine prescribed for the offence in Section 96, as the Court may specify. * \ \ (2) Where an accused person pleads guilty and remits the sum specified in the summons under sub-section (I), no further proceedings in \ respect of the offence shall be taken against him.
