(1) The Senate shall be the principal academic body of the Institute and shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, the Statutes, the Regulations and the Rules, have the control and regulation of and be responsible for- (i) interacting with the Board through the Director for formulation of academic policies and programmes to realise the strategic plan of the Institute; (ii) maintenance of standards of instruction, education and examination within the Institute; and (iii) exercise of such other powers and performing such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the Statutes; (2) The constitution of the Senate and terms of office of its members shall be such, as may be prescribed. (3) The Senate shall have the power to advise the Board on all academic matters. (4) The Senate shall have the powers to make Regulations for the Institute.
