Resignation :– (1) A member or a Naib-Sarpanch of a Grama Panchayat may resign his Office as such member or Naib-Sarpanch by giving notice in writing to the Sarpanch. (2) The Sarpanch may resign his Office by giving notice in writing to the Sub-Divisional Officer. (3) Except in a case where the person resigning delivers notice or resignation under the foregoing Sub-Sections personally to the Sarpanch or to the Sub-Divisional Officer, as the case may be, the Sarpanch or the Sub-Divisional Officer on receipt of such notice shall, as soon as may be, obtain confirmation from the person concerned as to its genuineness. (4) A resignation on the basis of a notice therefore under Sub-Sec- tion (1) or Sub-Section (2) delivered personally or confirmed as aforesaid shall take effect on and from the date on which such notice was received or, as the case may be, the date on which the confirmation was obtained. (5) In the case of any resignation taking effect in accordance with Sub-Section (4)– (a) the Sub-Divisional Officer shall forthwith inform the Naib- Sarpanch about the resignation of the Sarpanch; and (b) the Sarpanch shall, in respect of the resignation of a member
