Protection to Grama Panchayats :– (1) No suit or prosecution shall be entertained in any Court against a Grama Sasan or Grama Panchayat or the Sarpanch, Naib-Sarpanch or any other member or Officer or other employee thereof or any person acting under its or his direction in respect of anything in good faith done or intended to be done under this Act or any rule or bye-laws made thereunder. NOTES Section 139 - Sarpanch acting what is prohibited under law-He can- not take advantage of protection of having done in good faith. Held, there being specific prohibition under the rules, the act cannot be said to have been done in good faith - Therefore, the protection under Section 139 of the Act is also not available to the respondent in this case : 1986 (I) OLR 137 : 1986 Cr LJ 1025.
