Forest Officers deemed to be public servants :– All Forest Officers shall be deemed to be :- (a) Public servants within the meaning of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (45 of 1860); (b) Police Officers for execution of search warrants issued in exercise of powers conferred under Clause (c), Sub-Section (1) of Section 77. 1[79. Protection of action taken in good faith and cognizance of offence :– (1) No suit, prosecution or other legal proceeding shall lie against any Forest Officer for anything done or omitted to be done by him in good faith under this Act or the rules or orders made thereunder.
