Subject to su:h orders, rtlles, regulations, guidelines and directions mdtiom of as may be issued from time to lime, by thC Central Government or the Council under the provisions of AI1-India Council for Technical U~n*v* Education; Act 1987, the University shall have the following power 52 of 1987 and functions, namely:- (i) to. establish and maintain ~ntsitutions for higher studies and ~esearch in engineering and technology including information techn0108Y and its application, architeclure, pharmacy, applied arts and crafts mana- gement and applic A sciences; (ii) to acoord eliation to any College or institution of cnginccring . and ~eehnolog~, including information technology and its application, archimure, ph.armacy, applied arts and crafts management or applied sciences as an affiliated College or lnstitUtioII; (iii) to grant autonomy to any affiliated College or Institution imparting education in engineering and rechnoIogy including information rcchno- logy and its application, architecture, pharmacy, applied arts and crafts, management and applied sciences; (iv) to pravide for instructian and training in such 'branches' of leah- ing as are in keeping with the obje:ts of the Uai~ersiQ and to . ' make provision for research and for th? advancement and disee- mind ion of knowledge; I [v) to institute degrees, titles, diplomas and other academic distinctions; . (vi) to grant, subj~ct to such conditions as the Uaiversity may determine diplomas or certiticates and confer degrees and other academic disJiar tions on the basis or examinations, evaluation-or any other method of arsessment, on deserving ' persons; .
