Every Area Council unless otherwise dissolved by the State Government shall continue for five years from the date of appointment. Provided that the said period may be extended by the State Government by a notification in the Gazette for a period not exceeding one year at a time: Provided further that a member elected to fill a casual vacancy shall bold office for the remainder of the term of office of the member whom he replaced.
