Suspension of member of Municipal Council / Town Council: Notwithstanding any law for the time being in force, the Government may suspend a member: (a) Where a member prima facie appears to be guilty of: (i) Encroachment or unauthorized occupation of any Municipal property or land or (ii) Acting against the financial interest of Municipal Council or Town Council or (iii) A heinous crime or an offences involving moral turpitude has remained under detention for more than 48 hours or 15 (b) Where the continuation of a member as such is prejudicial to public interest. Provided that the charges on which the member was suspended shall be inquired into expeditiously within a period of 1 (one) month. Provided further that the period of suspension of the member shall in no case exceed 6 (six) months.
