The proviso to Sub-Section (2) of Section 3 of the Nagaland Ministers’ Salaries and Allowances Act, 1964 shall be substituted by the following, namely “Provided that if the Chief Minister, a Minister, Minister of State, Deputy Minister or Parliamentary Secretary does not occupy the free furnished residence provided by the Government, a house rent allowance at the rate given here-in-after in lieu of such residence shall be paid. In such case, rent payable shall be at the applicable rate as laid down by the P.W.D. equivalent to the rental value of the free furnished residence which would have been provided by the Government at the public expense. In addition such allowance for service and facilities shall be paid as may be prescribed by rules”.
