Substituted vide Nagaland Act 11 of 1969 w.e.f. 1-9-69. Prohibition against practicing any profession or drawing salary as member during the tenure of the office as Minister- 5. A minister shall not during the tenure of his office for which he draws salary and allowances – (a) practice any profession or engage in any trade or undertake for remuneration any employment other than his duties as Minster ; or (b) be entitled to any salary or allowances as a member of the Legislative Assembly. Use of free-furnished residence and Government conveyance on relinquishing office. – 6. A Minister shall be entitled to the privilege of the use of the free furnished residence and Government conveyance on his ceasing to hold office for such period as prescribed by rules. Travelling and daily allowances.-7. Every Minister shall be entitled, while touring on public business, to traveling and daily allowances at such rates and on such conditions as may be prescribed by rules. Medical attendance and treatment.-8. A Minister shall be entitled free of charge to accommodation in hospitals maintained or approved in this behalf by the Government and also to free medical treatment. Explanation.- For the purpose of this section, a ‘Minister’ shall include his wife, his children, step-children, minor brother and parents wholly dependent on him. Entertainment allowance.- 9. The Chief Minister shall be entitled to an entertainment allowance of rupees five hundred per mensem, a Minister and Minister of State to an entertainment allowance of rupees three hundred and fifty per mensem, a Deputy Minister to an entertainment allowance of rupees two hundred and fifty per mensem and a Parliamentary Secretary to an entertainment allowance or rupees one hundred and fifty per mensem. Power to make rules.- 10. (1) The State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules for carrying out the purpose of this Act. (2) All rules made under this Act shall be laid before the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, as soon as may be, after they are made and shall be subject to such modifications as the Legislative Assembly may make.
